We go to great strides to ensure optimum freshness and quality in the coffee we serve. By following the few suggestions outlined below you can achieve the same results at home.
  • Purchase whole bean Four Seasons Coffee to ensure the greatest freshness possible; ideally a week’s worth at a time.
  • Store your Four Seasons Coffee at room temperature in an airtight, opaque container; do not refrigerate or freeze, as the condensation that will result will compromise freshness.
  • Prepare only as much as you intend to consume; the flavor will deteriorate after about twenty minutes.
  • Grind your Four Seasons Coffee to the appropriate consistency just before brewing at the rate of (2) tablespoons for every (6) ounces of water; that amounts to approximately (2) heaping tablespoons of whole bean.
  • The correct grind is critical; the shorter the brew process used by your equipment, the finer the grind, while the longer the brew process, the coarser the grind.
  • Always use cold fresh water. If you are using a press pot (our preference for the most complete extraction) temperature is equally important. The ideal temperature is between 195 and 205 degrees; just short of a full boil. The correct extraction time for this method is about (4) minutes; over extraction will yield bitterness while under extraction will result in undeveloped flavor characteristics.
  • Enjoy your coffee while it is hot and fresh! Never reheat coffee, clean your equipment and prepare more as needed!
