We go to
great strides to ensure optimum freshness and quality
in the coffee we serve. By following the few suggestions
outlined below you can achieve the same results
at home.
Purchase whole bean Four Seasons
Coffee to ensure the greatest freshness possible;
ideally a week’s worth at a time.
Store your Four Seasons Coffee at
room temperature in an airtight, opaque container;
do not refrigerate or freeze, as the condensation
that will result will compromise freshness.
Prepare only as much as you intend
to consume; the flavor will deteriorate after
about twenty minutes.
Grind your Four Seasons Coffee to
the appropriate consistency just before brewing
at the rate of (2) tablespoons for every (6)
ounces of water; that amounts to approximately
(2) heaping tablespoons of whole bean.
The correct grind is critical; the
shorter the brew process used by your equipment,
the finer the grind, while the longer the brew
process, the coarser the grind.
Always use cold fresh water. If you
are using a press pot (our preference for the
most complete extraction) temperature is equally
important. The ideal temperature is between
195 and 205 degrees; just short of a full boil.
The correct extraction time for this method
is about (4) minutes; over extraction will yield
bitterness while under extraction will result
in undeveloped flavor characteristics.
Enjoy your coffee while it is hot
and fresh! Never reheat coffee, clean your equipment
and prepare more as needed!
